Ben Shenk recognized as Employee of the Quarter
Weldon Solutions believes strongly in celebrating standout employees – and it means even more when that celebration comes from their coworkers.
Weldon recognized Ben Shenk as Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2023 for excellence on the job after employees across the company voted for Shenk for the honor.
As an application engineer, he helps build CNC grinders and robotic systems and writes the computer programs for them. He also goes to customer sites to install, start-up and demonstrate for customers how to operate systems in the field.
Being part of a company that offers an employee stock ownership plan is a major motivating factor for Shenk. He appreciates that when the company does well, it benefits all employees, which he said helps build camaraderie among coworkers.
Shenk enjoys the variety of projects the company takes on, as well as the different industries in which Weldon works, and is glad to work for a company where everyone knows each other’s names.
“As application engineers, we put our hands on a little bit of everything throughout the project, including a little mechanical engineering and electrical engineering,” Shenk said. “Getting exposed to all that is really exciting and has taught me a lot over the last four years.”
Shenk started working for Weldon in June of 2019, directly after graduating from Grove City College with a mechanical engineering degree. His senior project in college involved a FANUC robot, and Shenk was very interested in working in automation. He went to FANUC’s website and found a list of integrators they work with. Weldon’s work stood out, plus the company is located near Shenk’s Manheim hometown, so it was a great fit from the start.
As Employee of the Quarter, Shenk received an Amazon gift card and a plaque.
“It feels great to be recognized, especially since it was my peers voting,” Shenk added. “I’m grateful for the team here that I get to work with. Weldon is a great place to be.”
