Weldon’s Total Preventive Maintenance Grinder Program

Weldon’s Total Preventive Maintenance Program is a must for grinder customers

When a Weldon customer purchases one of our CNC grinders, they know they are getting an incredibly high-quality, rugged machine that will excel at the job of industrial grinding.

We understand today’s highly competitive manufacturing market requires a constant focus on the bottom line and achieving maximum productivity. And if your grinder is down for repairs, every minute it is out of commission is money lost.

Weldon CNC grinders can keep operating for decades – but they need proper and regular maintenance to prevent issues that can cause costly downtime and to keep them running smoothly and efficiently.

That’s why we offer our customers Weldon’s Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) Program. Our TPM Program begins with scheduling a technician to travel to your facility to perform a complete TPM check on your machine. After completing the inspection, you will be given an itemized checklist detailing the grinder’s current condition and recommended repairs.

“Weldon technicians are most familiar with the inner workings of the machines and the tolerances to which they were built,” said Willie Godfrey, Weldon customer service manager. “We can decide which components are still performing to factory specifications and which ones will soon need to be repaired or replaced.”

What a TPM inspection entails

While there is an entire checklist of routine maintenance steps customers should regularly take, the TPM Program offers a higher level of maintenance and convenience.

To properly perform preventative maintenance, numerous covers must be removed to access the parts inside a grinder, which can be a lengthy and involved process. When a Weldon TPM Program technician visits a customer, they bring parts with them that commonly need to be replaced due to wear. This saves customers the expense of additional labor or a return visit.

Godfrey recommends customers have a Weldon specialist visit their sites annually for TPM Program checkups, although machine usage and the working environment may necessitate more frequent visits.

Why you should join the program

What are the biggest benefits to being part of the TPM Program? Customers who routinely schedule annual inspections experience very little, if any, downtime. If a component fails and is repaired within a year, chances are it did not cause any further damage. But undiagnosed problems typically lead to major repairs and unplanned downtime.

Most TPM checks can be completed in two days or less and can be scheduled at the customer’s convenience. Weldon’s experienced technicians have been fully trained at our manufacturing facility. They are equipped to provide our customers with the best service possible and help them reach their goal of consistent facility productivity.

During your TPM check, a Weldon service technician will inspect way wipers and boots; ballscrew and support bearings; X and Z axes slides; workhead and tailstock bearings; all filters in pneumatic and hydraulic systems; electrical servos and drives; and wheel spindle bearings.

Weldon technicians are on hand to help keep your machines in tip-top shape so you can operate without unnecessary maintenance setbacks. Contact us today to discuss your options.
